Implementation of the project ՛՛Representation of women and gender based discrimination towards women in state decision making bodies՛՛.

On the eve of the upcoming Parliamentary Elections on the 1st of December, 2018 in the frames of 16-days of activism against gender-based violence “For Fem/4FEM” Women’s Rights Defender NGO implemented the training “The representation of women and the gender-based discrimination in state decision making bodies” with civil servant women in Article 3 club. The training was held with the financial support of Women Fund Armenia. The aim of the training was to raise the awareness of civil servant women about women rights, gender equality, as well as about the representation and the role of women in state bodies.
The training was held by the experienced experts Aida Maruqyan and Astxik Aslanyan.
The training comprised the following topics:
-gender equality
-electoral right of women
-involvement of women in state bodies
-elimination of obstacles and gender-based discrimination
-rights of women in civil service.
We had participants from all marzes of Armenia and from Yerevan. The participants were the workers from the department of protection of family, women and children, as well as from the department of information and public relations.
We had also participants from different NGOs and independent observers.
The training was held with the principle of inclusion. The place was fit for people having disabilities. We had also participants having listening and speaking disabilities. The simultaneous gesture language translation was done by our experienced translator Gohar Melikyan.
The training was organized by the President of the NGO Mariam Kurshudyan and the project assistant Mane Grigoryan. The volunteer of the organization Mery Shahbaryan, Ani Aslanyan and Liana Batikyan also helped in the process of the implementation of the project.
