We are excited to launch the Parajanov Initiative, a new regional platform to support cultural, social, and community-led initiatives across the South Caucasus.
Inspired by the legacy of Sergei Parajanov, whose work transcended borders, challenged conventions, and celebrated cultural diversity, the initiative aims to create a space where art, culture, and civic engagement can come together to strengthen dialogue, inclusion, and solidarity across the region.
The Parajanov Initiative will support projects that use culture as a tool for social transformation, encourage collaboration between activists, artists, cultural practitioners, and community leaders, and promote creative responses to shared social challenges. The initiative seeks to foster cross-border cooperation between Armenia, Georgia, and neighboring communities while amplifying underrepresented voices and creating opportunities for meaningful participation.
Through exhibitions, film screenings, discussions, educational programmes, community gatherings, artistic collaborations, and other cultural activities, the initiative will provide opportunities for individuals and organisations to exchange knowledge, build partnerships, and develop new ideas that contribute to more inclusive and resilient societies.
The South Caucasus is home to rich cultural traditions, diverse identities, and vibrant civic movements. At the same time, communities across the region continue to face political, social, and economic challenges that often limit opportunities for dialogue and cultural exchange. The Parajanov Initiative seeks to address these realities by investing in collaborative cultural initiatives that strengthen community connections and foster mutual understanding.
As the initiative develops, additional activities, partnerships, and opportunities for participation will be announced through For Fem’s communication channels. We look forward to working with artists, activists, cultural organisations, and community members who share the vision of a more open, creative, and inclusive South Caucasus.
